MIDDLE SCHOOL
Skills emphasized in Middle Grades include organization, note-taking, effective utilization of technology, research writing, and presentation. English grammar, vocabulary, and sentence structure are taught through extensive reading and writing.
Sixth grade students focus on a rigorous, core curriculum of math, literature, and language arts. They work collaboratively with their peers and further develop important life skills, such as creativity, collaboration and communication.
As from 7th grade, Students receive frequent, thoughtful feedback on their areas of strength and potential growth.
Individualized observation may lead to suggestion of differentiated programs, and for instance, in ELA, if the student is excelling and agrees to tougher goals, In addition to assigned coursework, Accelerated Reader (AR) will require that students read 08 books of their own choosing over the course of each school year.
During 7th and 8th grades, individualized math starts in earnest. Teachers begin the year by pre-testing students to determine what they’ve mastered, where they need some review, and what new material will be appropriate. Once a proper starting point is established, the course material is covered using a mastery-based approach. Students progress through the material at an individualized pace and move onto new material only after demonstrating mastery of what they’ve already covered.
9th grade is a world apart – Counseling takes an important role in their choices at this point and decisions will impact ACADEMIC CURRICULUM , FUTURE CAREERS AND LIFE.
